What are the responsibilities and job description for the Code Enforcement Officer position at West Bloomfield Township?
The Charter Township of West Bloomfield is accepting applications for a Code Enforcement Officer in our Code Enforcement Department.
General Summary:
Under the direction of the Code Enforcement Director, conducts on-site inspections at various locations throughout the Township to ensure full compliance with state regulations, Township ordinances and building codes. Investigates complaints, provides notices, issues citations, and may appear in court as necessary. Serves as a resource to the community and provides information on Township regulations. Assists residents, business owners, contractors, developers and the general public with information regarding ordinance violations and building code related matters. This position requires excellent communication and computer skills, along with the ability to maintain complete and accurate records.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred or a minimum of three (3) years of experience as an ordinance officer, law enforcement officer, building inspector, zoning administrator, or closely related profession.
- International Code Council (ICC) certification preferred.
- Act 54 certification preferred.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
