Police Cadet
The Charter Township of West Bloomfield is accepting applications for the position of
Police Cadet at the Police Department. The Police Cadet is a uniformed, part-time position working a minimum of thirty-two (32) hour per week. This position is designed to prepare individuals for a future career in law enforcement by offering direct exposure to police operations, community engagement and department support functions.
Cadets serve as non-sworn personnel and support the West Bloomfield Police Department by assisting the public at the front desk, handling administrative tasks, completing reports and supporting officers in the field and at the station. They are expected to demonstrate professionalism, initiative and a strong desire to enter the law enforcement field.
This is a part time position with a starting pay of $23.01/hour and a 6-month increase to $24.07/hour. Must be available to work days, afternoons and midnights. This is not a temporary position.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be a High School graduate or equivalent.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be actively enrolled in a college degree program at an accredited college or university or have obtained an Associate’s Degree or higher.
- Criminal Justice or related coursework preferred.
- Must have a valid Michigan Operator’s License.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Must maintain good moral character and a professional appearance.
- Must be physically and mentally able to perform the duties of the position.
