Student Management Coordinator

Purpose

The Student Management Coordinator plays a supportive role within the Pupil Transportation Department of our school district, requiring a blend of interpersonal skills and technological competence. This position involves acting as a liaison between contracted bus drivers, pupil transit management, and school staff, aiding school staff in managing student behavior on buses, and occasionally participating in parent meetings. The ideal candidate should possess strong interpersonal skills, organizational abilities, and the capacity to apply policies and procedures to diverse situations, while also demonstrating competence in data entry and technology utilization for effective incident management and documentation. During nonpeak times, the Student Management Coordinator must also be flexible and able to assist with student routing activities.

Supervision Received and Exercised

The Student Management Coordinator works under the direction of the Director of Planning and Transportation. This position exercises independent judgment in performing administrative duties and may provide coordination, guidance, and training to school and contracted staff as needed, while not serving in a direct supervisory capacity.

Essential Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Behavioral Management & Incident Support
• Assist in managing and documenting transportation related behavioral incidents using cloud-based video systems and incident ticketing software.
• Support school staff in managing student behavior on buses by providing guidance, resources, and assistance as needed.
• Coordinate periodically with the Safety and Behavior team.

Communication & Collaboration
• Facilitate communication between bus drivers, school staff, transportation management, and relevant stakeholders regarding transportation-related behavioral incidents, interventions, and resolutions.
• Collaborate with school staff and transportation management to apply strategies, interventions, and policies aimed at improving student behavior on buses.

Records Management & Behavioral Analysis
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records related to transportation-related behavioral incidents, communications, and interventions.
• Monitor and identify behavioral patterns, including situations involving recurring or severe behavior concerns.

Operational & Routing Support
• During nonpeak periods, assist with student routing activities, utilizing analytical thinking skills to support transportation operations.
• Support transportation management as needed to ensure continuity of service.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of:
• Applying policies and procedures consistently across diverse situations.
• Incident ticketing software and cloud-based systems, including basic technological proficiency.
• Previous experience in a support role within a school or educational setting preferred.

Ability to:
• Collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information with discretion.

  • Handle interruptions, prioritize work, and return to and complete tasks in a timely manner.

• Demonstrate attention to detail, accuracy, and accountability in all work products.
• Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
• Maintain regular attendance and adhere to prescribed work schedule to conduct job responsibilities.

  • Perform other duties related as determined.

Qualifications

Any equivalent combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
• High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, or related field preferred.
• Demonstrated administrative experience, preferably in an educational, governmental, or public agency setting.

Essential Physical Abilities

  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to discern verbal instructions and communicate effectively in person and on the telephone.
  • Sufficient visual acuity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to comprehend written work instructions and review, evaluate and prepare a variety of written documents.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to operate standard office equipment and a personal computer.
  • Sufficient personal mobility, flexibility, and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to lift up to 30 pounds, to sit and work at a keyboard for an extended period of time, and work in an office environment.

Salary : $40,500 - $46,500
