Purpose
The Assessment Administration Consultant coordinates and oversees all K–12 state and district assessment programs to ensure accurate, efficient, and compliant test administration across the school district. This role is responsible for managing assessment systems, supporting school-based test coordinators and staff, and serving as the key liaison between the district, the state assessment office, and assessment vendors. The consultant ensures that required assessments—including ACCESS for MLs, ISAT, i-Ready, and Amira/IRI—are implemented with fidelity and that schools receive timely guidance, communication, and troubleshooting support throughout the testing cycle.

Receives direct supervision from the Assessment Coordinator and general supervision from the Director of Data-Driven Response. As experience is gained, incumbents are expected to perform the full range of duties as assigned with increasing independence. The primary duties of this position are performed in a general office environment.

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Create, communicate, and maintain district-wide assessment calendars, deadlines, and testing expectations.
- Manage rostering and student data accuracy across assessment platforms, ensuring correct accommodations and testing assignments.
- Oversee test administration setup, including system readiness checks, device preparation coordination, and compliance with vendor technical requirements.
- Develop and/or deliver comprehensive training for Assessment Leads, test proctors, building administrators, and teachers on assessment procedures, security, technology, and roles/responsibilities.
- Provide clear and timely communication for schools regarding testing requirements, updates, timelines, and troubleshooting steps.
- Serve as the primary district contact for assessment-related questions, offering proactive support before, during, and after testing windows.
- Act as the district liaison with assessment vendors to resolve technical issues, clarify requirements, and support district/school readiness.
- Monitor testing progress and provide live troubleshooting during active testing windows (e.g., login issues, device errors, rostering problems, and accommodations setup).
- Coordinate with district IT teams on platform access, device functionality, and technical readiness.
- Serve as the intermediary between the district and the state assessment office, ensuring that district administrators receive accurate and timely information.
- Communicate state updates, procedural changes, test security expectations, and accountability requirements to all school sites.
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal assessment regulations, including participation requirements, test security measures, irregularity reporting, and documentation.
- Review assessment processes annually and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, clarity, and consistency across schools.
Knowledge of:
- State and federal K–12 assessment requirements, including ESSA, participation rules, accommodations, and test security expectations;
- State assessments, administration protocols, and scoring processes;
- Accountability measures tied to state assessments, including growth metrics, proficiency rates, and subgroup reporting;
- School and district technology infrastructure, including device readiness, bandwidth, secure browsers, and troubleshooting common testing issues;
- K–12 instructional models, school operations, and the role of assessment in continuous improvement;
- Accommodations and accessibility for students with IEPs, 504 plans, and ML plans;
- English grammar, spelling, and punctuation;
- Manage and troubleshoot multiple assessment platforms, vendor portals, and rostering tools.
- Interpret assessment data and help others understand its implications.
- Clearly communicate complex assessment procedures to diverse audiences including principals, teachers, test proctors, and support staff.
- Create user-friendly training materials, guides, timelines, and communication tools.
- Facilitate both in-person and virtual trainings with confidence and clarity.
- Manage overlapping testing windows, tight deadlines, and large-scale logistics across multiple school sites.
- Diagnose issues quickly and provide real-time solutions during testing (e.g., login errors, device issues, missing accommodations, roster mismatches).
- Adapt to frequent updates in testing requirements, platform changes, and state communication.
- Handle sensitive student information with discretion in accordance with FERPA and district policies.
- Maintain test security and model ethical assessment practices.
- Operate and use modern office equipment, including computers and appropriate software.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Maintain regular attendance and adhere to prescribed work schedule to conduct job responsibilities.
Any equivalent combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
- Bachelor’s degree in education, educational leadership, data management, or related field.
- Current Idaho Teaching certificate.
- Experience working in K–12 education, with familiarity in assessment systems and accountability requirements.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and provide calm, effective support during high-pressure testing windows.
- Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to discern verbal instructions and communicate effectively in person and on the telephone.
