What are the responsibilities and job description for the Licensing Clerk position at Werner Management Inc?
The main purpose of this position is to assist drivers, in person or over the telephone, by issuing permits and registrations in order for all trucks to operate legally in the 48 states and provinces of Canada. Responsibilities: Coordinate with office staff to obtain required permits as needed. Creates permit books for drivers to include current permits and toll transponder. Maintain up-to-date records of driver and vehicle licenses, registrations, permits (e.g., IRP, IFTA, various State permits), and other regulatory documents. Coordinate renewals and submissions for operating authority, vehicle registrations, apportioned plates, fuel tax reporting (IFTA), and other trucking-related compliance documents. Monitor expiration dates for various permits and send timely reminders or alerts to appropriate departments or personnel. Submit applications for new licenses or permits in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. Liaise with Departments of Motor Vehicles (DMVs), Department of Transportation (DOT), and other regulatory bodies as needed. Support audits by preparing and providing necessary documentation and reports. Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisory personnel. Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required. 1-3 years of experience in licensing, permitting, or compliance in the trucking or transportation industry preferred. Knowledge of Salesforce - preferred Strong attention to detail and accuracy Excellent organizational and time management skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) Experience with transportation management or compliance software is a plus Effective written and verbal communication skills Working Conditions: Primarily office-based with standard weekday hours. May occasionally require overtime during audit periods or license renewal deadlines. Fast-paced environment with deadlines and compliance pressures.
