Responsibilities
- Assist residents or clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs, behavior, and overall condition; report changes promptly to healthcare professionals
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption as necessary
- Support medication administration following prescribed instructions and maintain accurate documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and organizing personal spaces
- Use specialized equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident lifts to ensure safe transfer and mobility assistance
- Develop and follow personalized care plans designed by healthcare teams, ensuring each resident’s unique needs are prioritized
Requirements
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, group homes, or home health care preferred
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, hospice care, or working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is highly desirable
- Certifications such as CPR and First Aid are required; additional training in HIPAA compliance is a plus
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physically demanding tasks as needed for patient support
- Excellent observation skills for patient monitoring and recognizing signs of distress or health issues
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with healthcare teams, residents, families, and other caregivers
