Responsibilities
- Assist residents or clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support
- Monitor patients' health status by observing vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature; report any changes to healthcare professionals
- Support medication administration following proper protocols and HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and safety
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding when necessary
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and ensuring hygiene standards are met
- Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident lifts to safely transfer individuals with mobility challenges
- Follow individualized care plans designed by healthcare teams to meet each resident's unique needs
- Provide companionship and emotional support to foster a caring environment that promotes mental health and social engagement
- Document care activities accurately in compliance with healthcare regulations and organizational policies
- Assist with hospice or memory care needs, including dementia or Alzheimer's care, ensuring comfort and dignity at all times
- Support residents during emergencies by executing first aid procedures or coordinating with emergency responders when necessary
- Engage in ongoing training related to patient observation, group home protocols, assisted living standards, and other relevant caregiving skills
Requirements
- Proven experience in home health, assisted living, nursing homes, or group homes is highly preferred
- Wound vac experience
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques and ability to monitor vital signs accurately
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA compliance or hospice care are advantageous
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, dementia, or memory care needs is desirable
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts; physical stamina for long shifts involving standing and walking is essential
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with residents, families, and healthcare teams
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to improve clients' quality of life
- Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed
