The Surgical Technician functions as a vital member of the operating room (OR) team, assuming responsibility for the scrub position during surgical interventions. The role involves maintaining a safe environment by implementing technical and aseptic practices in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.

• Proficiently performs surgical procedures across various services.


• Demonstrates knowledge of surgical equipment and instrumentation.


• Assists team members by setting up and maintaining a sterile field.


• Uses instruments, sutures, and stapling devices correctly and safely.


• Follows appropriate procedures for obtaining, returning, cleaning, and disposing of equipment.


• Prepares according to surgeon preference cards and procedure specifications.


• Reports and recognizes faulty equipment or unsafe conditions.


• Accurately performs all sponge, needle, and instrument counts at designated times.


• Saves and properly identifies all specimens according to department policies.


• Demonstrates ability to handle emergency situations effectively.

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.


• Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology.


• Current Washington State Surgical Technologist license.


• National Certification by the Association of Surgical Technologists.


• Experience in Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) required.

This position involves taking call with a minimum of 14 days within a 6-week schedule.
