Registered Respiratory Therapist

Position Overview

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RT) will play a crucial role in providing respiratory care to patients across various departments, including Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Emergency Room (ER), Nursery, and Medical/Surgical floors. The ideal candidate will have experience with both adult and pediatric patients, particularly in critical and high-risk situations.

• Float Requirements: RTs may float to all areas of the hospital


• Years of Experience: Minimum of 2 years required

• Provide respiratory care to patients in a variety of settings, including adult ICU, emergency care for pediatric patients, and nursery support during high-risk deliveries.


• Utilize advanced respiratory equipment, including Drager V500 and Hamilton T-1 ventilators, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.


• Participate in resuscitation efforts and collaborate with healthcare teams to develop comprehensive care plans.


• Document patient care activities accurately in the EPIC electronic medical record system.

• Certifications: Must hold current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification, as well as BLS, ACLS, NRP, and PALS certifications.


• Education: Completion of an accredited respiratory therapy program.


• Skills: Strong assessment skills and experience with the specific equipment mentioned.


• Preferred Experience: NICU and PICU experience is highly valued.

• Number of Beds: Approximately 159


• Patient Ratios: To be determined by unit needs


• Equipment Used: Includes Drager V500 ventilators, V60 BiPAP, Hamilton T-1 transport ventilator, Airvo high-flow oxygen units, neopuff, and Ram cannula.


• EMR System: EPIC

The candidate must be a team player, demonstrating good communication skills, mutual respect, and a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
