What are the responsibilities and job description for the FINANCIAL ANALYST position at Wells Group?
Overview:
Wells Group is a dynamic accounting and financial advisory firm serving startups and mid-sized companies, specializing in interim CFO and Controller services on a part-time, fractional basis. We work primarily with high-growth businesses across SaaS, media, healthcare, fintech, and consumer goods, among other industries. Our analysts sit close to the founders and CFOs making the calls and use AI to sharpen the insight that helps clients grow.
We are seeking an Accounting Manager with 1 to 3 years of experience to join WGNY. Headquartered in the Meatpacking District of NYC, we run extremely flat and want someone who can execute at a high level and become a core member of the team, with impact felt both inside our organization and across the clients we serve.
What You'll Do
- Build, maintain, and interpret detailed financial models across P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow, including scenario analysis, sensitivity testing, and capital structure work
- Turn client financials, KPIs, and trends into clear, actionable insight for leadership
- Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting packages that explain variances and surface the real business drivers
- Support board materials, investor decks, and executive presentations with analysis that holds up to scrutiny
- Partner with client leadership to pressure-test budgets, forecasts, and strategic initiatives
- Run ad hoc deep dives on customers, products, and margins to explain what's really happening in the business
- Use AI and automation to streamline reporting and modeling, and help set the standard for how the firm works
- What We're Looking For
- Required
- 1-3 years in financial analysis, FP&A, investment banking, or consulting
- Bachelor's or higher in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
- Exceptional Excel skills, with a proven ability to structure complex models and handle large datasets
- Comfort using AI and automation tools to work faster and smarter
- Sharp quantitative and analytical judgment, with precision when reading financial and operational data
- Strong written and verbal communication, and the ability to distill technical analysis into plain business language
- The self-direction to juggle multiple client workstreams and hit deadlines in a fast-paced, client-facing setting
Nice to Have
- SQL experience (strongly preferred)
- Prior time at a Big Four firm, investment bank, or management consulting firm
- Familiarity with U.S. GAAP, plus CPA or progress toward it
- Experience with QuickBooks, NetSuite, or a similar ERP
- Exposure to multiple industries or client-facing work
Why You'll Want This
- Range. Real exposure to many industries and business models, not a single vertical
- Ownership. A flat team where junior people touch strategy early instead of waiting years
- Leverage. We invest in AI and automation so your time goes to thinking, not grinding
- Growth. Direct mentorship from senior finance leaders across a live portfolio of clients
Compensation & Benefits
- $100,000-$130,000 salary band
- Medical, vision, and dental coverage, and a hands-on environment built for people who want to grow fast.
- 11 Holidays and 20 PTO
