Job Overview
The HR Representative supports the day-to-day human resources operations of a manufacturing facility, serving as a generalist who handles recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, policy compliance, training coordination, and benefits support for hourly and salaried employees. This role acts as a primary point of contact for employees and supervisors on HR matters and helps ensure the facility operates in compliance with employment laws and company policy. This position does not perform payroll, accounting, or financial reporting functions; those responsibilities are managed by the Accounting department.
Responsibilities
- Recruiting & Staffing
- Manage full-cycle recruitment for production and administrative roles, including posting requisitions, screening candidates, scheduling interviews, and coordinating with hiring managers.
Employee Relations
- Serve as a first point of contact for employee questions, concerns, and complaints; escalate as appropriate to Management.
Compliance & Policy Administration
- Maintain required postings in accordance with federal, state, and local employment law (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, OSHA, etc.).
- Assist with all regulatory reporting requirements.
Benefits & Leave Administration
- Serve as the on-site point of contact for employee benefits enrollment, changes, and general questions; liaise with the benefits broker or carrier for escalations.
- Administer leave of absence requests (FMLA, short-term disability, personal leave) including tracking, correspondence, and return-to-work coordination.
Training & Safety Support
- Coordinate required compliance training (safety, harassment prevention, equal employment opportunity) and maintain training records.
- Partner with the Safety Manager on incident documentation, workers' compensation claim initiation, and return-to-work programs.
General HR Administration
- Respond to unemployment claims and verification-of-employment requests.
- Maintain HRIS data accuracy for new hires, transfers, terminations, and status changes.
- Assist with HR projects such as policy rollouts, engagement surveys, and process improvements.
Experience
- Proven experience in human resources management or related roles with a strong understanding of employment & labor law and OSHA regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple HR functions including benefits administration, performance management, and employee relations.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to coordinate initiatives across teams while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills paired with administrative experience in handling contracts, data collection, and social media management related to employer branding.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, or related field.
- 2-5 years of HR generalist experience, ideally in a manufacturing
- Working knowledge of employment law (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, OSHA) and HR best practices.
Pay: $24.31 - $29.28 per hour
