TITLE: Director of Business Development
POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Business Development is a strategic, results-driven leader responsible for driving revenue growth and expanding Wellness Care's market presence across the Medicare care coordination landscape. This role leads efforts to identify, develop, and close partnerships with health systems, physician groups, ACOs, managed care organizations, and other referral sources. The Director will work cross-functionally with clinical, operations, and marketing teams to ensure seamless onboarding of new partners and sustainable business growth aligned with Wellness Care's mission to deliver exceptional care coordination services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Development & Growth Strategy
- Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy to grow Wellness Care's census and referral network.
- Identify and pursue new partnerships with physician practices, hospital systems, ACOs, Medicare Advantage plans, and community organizations.
- Build and manage a robust pipeline of prospective partners, tracking activity and progress through CRM tools.
- Lead contract and partnership negotiations with new and existing referral sources.
- Set and monitor quarterly and annual revenue growth targets; report progress to executive leadership.
Relationship Management
- Cultivate and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key decision-makers at referral organizations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for strategic partners, ensuring high satisfaction and continued engagement.
- Represent Wellness Care at industry conferences, healthcare events, and community networking opportunities.
- Collaborate with clinical leadership to educate referral partners on program eligibility, workflows, and patient outcomes.
Market Intelligence & Strategic Planning
- Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes (CMS, Medicare Advantage, CCM/RPM reimbursement models), and competitive landscape to inform strategy.
- Conduct market analyses to identify underserved geographies and patient populations for expansion.
- Partner with the marketing team on collateral development, campaigns, and value proposition messaging.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Collaborate with operations and clinical teams to ensure a smooth onboarding experience for new partners and patients.
- Provide regular reporting and business development metrics to the executive team.
- Mentor and potentially lead a business development team as the organization scales.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Advanced degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or a related field strongly preferred.
Experience
- 7 years of progressive business development, sales, or strategic partnerships experience β with at least 3 years in a healthcare setting.
- Demonstrated success selling into or partnering with physician groups, health systems, or Medicare/managed care organizations.
- Experience with Medicare-covered services (Chronic Care Management, Remote Patient Monitoring, Transitional Care, or similar care coordination programs) strongly preferred.
- Proven track record of building referral networks and meeting/exceeding revenue growth targets.
Skills & Competencies
- Exceptional relationship-building and consultative selling skills.
- Deep understanding of the Medicare reimbursement ecosystem and value-based care models.
- Strong negotiation, presentation, and executive communication skills.
- Proficiency with CRM platforms (Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar).
- Analytical mindset with ability to translate data into strategic recommendations.
