Position Title: Registered Dietitian(Part Time)
Reporting to: Advocacy Manager
Location: Chapel Hill, NC (Hybrid)
Compensation: $30-$32/hr, depending upon experience
Schedule: Monday through Friday 11am-3pm, with occasional hours in evenings and weekends based on business needs (20-25hrs/week)

The role of Well’s Member Services team is to create frictionless experiences for our members and help them achieve their best health. Our members are at the core of everything we do. We are seeking to forge sustained relationships with our members by serving them with empathy, and we are looking for team members who are excited to join our efforts to pursue this goal! Our team is composed of a variety of interdisciplinary roles that work closely together to advance our members’ health, including our Well Guides, nurses, Benefit Specialists, and Certified Coaches. The team helps members with questions related to medical benefits, coaches our members to set and obtain their health goals, and helps them navigate the healthcare system.
Position Summary
We are looking for an empathetic, clinically sharp, and tech-savvy Registered Dietitian to join our Member Services team. This individual will be an integral part of shaping and launching our new nutrition coaching service and serve as the primary nutritional touchpoint for members prescribed GLP-1 medications for weight management.
The Registered Dietitian (RD) will work directly with individuals via telephonic visits and chat to provide medical nutrition therapy, nutrition counseling, and weight management education and support. For those on a GLP-1, the RD will help members navigate the physiological changes associated with these medications, from managing nausea during titration to ensuring adequate protein intake for muscle preservation.
This role is primarily focused on direct clinical care; however, depending on capacity and operational needs, part of the role will also include serving as a nutritional Subject Matter Expert for the development of Well Guide-facing resources and nutrition content across the app. This role begins as part-time with a clear path to full-time.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide medical nutrition therapy and counseling services to members via phone or video, including initial assessments, nutrition plans, goal setting, and progress monitoring. Follow members longitudinally as part of a structured program with routine check-ins to assess member’s progress and address barriers to the member’s goals
- Collaborate closely with Well Guides as part of an integrated team to provide follow-up and ongoing coaching and accountability to members in between virtual visits
- Provide intensive nutrition education and weight management education and support to patients via phone, video, or digital (chat) to help members create and implement effective solutions to address their weight goals
- Appropriately refer members to their primary care doctor when needed and ensure any nutritional plans are in alignment with a member’s existing care plan
- Provide empathetic, non-judgemental guidance to elicit behavior change using motivational interviewing techniques.
- Keep up to date with the latest nutrition research and trends to ensure that advice and recommendations to clients are evidence-based.
- Support our Member Services Well Guide team by building educational resources and workflows and serving as a go-to nutritional subject matter expert.
- Consistently meet program metrics while also meeting quality requirements
- Value and incorporate patients individual choices and cultural preferences as appropriate for the best adherence and outcomes
- Work as an integral part of our program development, execution and continuous improvement
- Registered Dietitian credentialed by the Commission of Dietetic Registration
- Licensed to practice as a Registered Dietitian in the State of North Carolina and at least one other state (Preferably Texas or Florida) or willing to obtain licensure in additional state(s)
- Deep understanding of GLP-1 medications and specific nutritional requirements associated with them
- Proven experience utilizing motivational interviewing to provide behavior change
- 2 years of clinical experience, specifically in weight management and/or obesity
- Demonstrated ability to recognize patient needs and adapt communication techniques to best serve a diverse patient population
- Problem-solving skills and ability to develop creative solutions to meet clients' needs and preferences.
- Passion for helping individuals achieve their health goals through nutrition and lifestyle changes
- Able to work independently and manage time efficiently. Comfortable working in fast-paced digital environment and communicating with patients over a variety and platforms (video, phone or chat)
