Position Title: Nurse Well Guide
Reports to: Advocacy Manager
Location: Chapel Hill, NC (On-Site)
Shift: Monday-Friday (12pm-9pm)
Training Schedule: Monday-Friday 5pm-9pm for the first 3 weeks of employment
Salary Range: $33.65/hour
Position Summary
Our nurse coaches are part of a diverse team that provides a consumer-centric experience for members who call or communicate through digital channels, such as chat. Well nurses use clinical knowledge, experience, and expertise to help these members improve and maintain their health and wellness; without practicing nursing or providing direct clinical care. This unique hybrid role is an even split between Nurse Well Guide and Health and Wellness Coaching responsibilities. You will serve as a clinical expert and a certified coach, providing a personalized, holistic, and non-judgmental experience for our members. Using a blended human-digital approach (phone and chat), you will provide education, help members navigate the healthcare system, and empower them to make sustainable lifestyle changes in areas such as nutrition, stress management, and emotional well-being.

Key Responsibilities
- Interface with members via phone and HIPAA-compliant digital channels based on their preference.
- Accurately update and document all member communications and coaching sessions in Well systems.
- Take personal responsibility for keeping sensitive member data secure according to HIPAA guidelines.
- Use clinical knowledge and expertise to provide supportive communication, guidance, and education to members without providing direct clinical care or performing assessments.
- Help members navigate the complexities of the healthcare system, identify/remove barriers to care, and proactively follow up on health-related questions or new health information.
- Collaborate with a diverse team of clinicians and non-clinicians, including experts in behavioral health, pharmacy, and health insurance.
- Maintain a panel of coaching clients
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to understand baseline health status, goals, and motivations.
- Collaborate with clients to establish a wellness vision and action plans using SMART goals.
- Deliver evidence-based information on wellness topics such as mindful eating, sleep hygiene, and exercise.
- Maintain nursing and coaching credentials through regular continuing education and participation in monthly staff trainings.
- Licensure: Active, unrestricted RN or LPN license, in North Carolina or compact state.
- Certification: National Board of Health and Wellness Coaches (NBHWC)
- 3 years of experience with direct patient care and coaching preferred.
- Proficient in motivational interviewing and behavior change theories
- Previous experience in healthcare contact centers, coaching, or care management preferred.
- Organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and multitask
- Excellent critical thinking, clinical knowledge, and decision-making skills
- Ability to work well with others in a diverse team setting
- Working knowledge of computers in order to effectively operate within company systems and programs
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) is preferred but not required.
