The OpportunityWe are seeking an experienced Cook to join our Dining Services team. This is a great opportunity for someone with restaurant cooking experience who enjoys preparing quality food from scratch and wants to bring those skills to a welcoming, resident-focused environment.
This part-time position offers 20–29 hours per week and requires flexibility to work morning and evening shifts, weekends, holidays, and special events as scheduled.
What You'll Do- Prepare high-quality meals from scratch, including soups, sauces, meats, seafood, vegetables, and daily specials.
- Follow established menus, recipes, and resident dietary needs.
- Prepare meals that meet specialized or therapeutic diet requirements as needed.
- Ensure food quality, consistency, proper portions, and presentation.
- Safely operate and maintain kitchen equipment.
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen.
- Work collaboratively with the Dining Services team to provide timely and exceptional service.
- Assist with special events, holiday meals, and other dining needs throughout the year.
- At least 1 year of professional restaurant cooking experience required.
- Experience in senior living, healthcare dining, or preparing specialized/therapeutic diets preferred.
- Knowledge of scratch cooking and basic culinary techniques.
- Understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to follow recipes, menus, and dietary guidelines.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Flexibility to work morning and evening shifts, weekends, holidays, and special events as needed.
- A positive, service-oriented approach and desire to provide an excellent dining experience for our residents.
