Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Tool and Die Maker to join our dynamic manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude and extensive experience in designing, fabricating, and repairing precision tools and dies used in the manufacturing process. This role requires proficiency in various machining techniques and the ability to work with a range of materials.
Duties
- Design and fabricate tooling, dies, and fixtures for production processes using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Set up and operate CNC lathes and CNC milling machines to produce high-quality components.
- Perform CNC programming, CAM programming, and GD&T to ensure precision in manufacturing.
- Utilize electrical discharge machining (EDM) techniques for intricate tool designs.
- Conduct plastics injection molding processes as required for specific projects.
- Interpret schematics and technical drawings to understand project specifications.
- Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and other tools to ensure accuracy in measurements.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize tooling designs for efficiency and effectiveness.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment while adhering to safety protocols.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues related to tooling and machinery as they arise.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Tool and Die Maker or in a similar role within the manufacturing industry.
- Strong knowledge of machining processes including fabrication, assembly, welding, stamping press operations, and general mechanical knowledge.
- Familiarity with hand tools and their applications in toolmaking.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations relevant to machining tasks.
- Experience working with various materials including metals and plastics is preferred.
