What are the responsibilities and job description for the Component Engineer position at WELDING TECHNOLOGY CORP?
JOB SUMMARY:
The components engineer is responsible for the parts that WTC use to build products or complete jobs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Enters part numbers in the ERP system allowing operations to obtain the parts for use on jobs.
- Obtains part samples and test parts to verify that the part meets engineering design requirements.
- Testing parts may require the design of test fixtures and/or using test equipment used to verify component functionality meets IEC standards.
- Assist the hardware engineering team building and repairing test fixtures as needed.
- Determine alternate sourcing for parts that go obsolete or are unavailable due to supply chain issues.
- Work with quality team on manufacturer and or supplier issues.
- Be WTC's primary interface with part manufacturers and assist purchasing as technical support with vendors.
- Address concerns from production about part suitability.
- Updates the Item Dictionary (component description specification) as needed.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Engineering degree. Electrical or Computer Engineering disciplines preferred other disciplines will be considered.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
To be employed by WTC/UEC/INP/NAC you must have permanent, unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
