Position Summary
Working as part of an interdependent team, the Stockroom Buyer will be responsible for supporting the management of the stockroom inventory including daily purchasing activities in support of plant operations. This role will combine hands-on parts and equipment receiving, part-issuing and maintaining inventory accuracy. Additionally, the Stockroom Buyer will be responsible for purchasing activities including generating requisitions, order expediting, supplier coordination and inventory optimization with the goal of ensuring critical parts availability through proactive inventory management while working closely with maintenance and operational teams.
Job Duties
Some examples of job duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Perform daily review of ERP system for inventory, shortage, delinquency and reorder reports
- Issue materials for work orders and approved requisitions
- Receive materials against purchase orders
- Maintain accurate stocking locations
- Perform cycle counts and physical inventory counts
- Review and adjust min/max levels based on consumption trends and operational needs
- Manage items sent out for repair, tracking status, costs and return dates
- Operate material handling equipment (forklift, hoists) and maintain certification requirements
- Generate requisitions for stock and non-stock items
- Monitor open orders, expected ship dates and supplier commitments with communication to stakeholders
- Assist corporate purchasing with sourcing parts, services and alternative suppliers
- Support development and maintenance of supplier programs and replenishment agreements
- Assist with new supplier set up activities such as credit applications, qualifications and related documentation

- Ability to work independently
- Detail oriented, organized and methodical
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with operational personnel and supplier interactions
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, production focused environment
Qualifications
- Minimum 1-3 years experience in stockroom, inventory control, purchasing or materials management position within an industrial or manufacturing environment
- College diploma in supply chain, business, technical or related field is preferred
- Experience with maintenance, MRO, Mechanical, and electrical components strongly preferred
- Prior experience with an ERP or inventory management system; AS400 experience is an asset
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Experience with reading and understanding basic mechanical drawings and specifications
- Strong data entry ability with a demonstrated degree of accuracy
- This position will require some travel into Canada on an infrequent but regular basis. Ability to travel into Canada is required
