Ben Weitsman of New Castle, a division of Weitsman Family of Companies, the East Coast’s largest privately held scrap metal processor, is currently looking for an experienced Burner for our Rochester, NY location.

Position Overview:
- Examine metal to ensure proper size specifications.
- Operate an oxy-acetyl torch for cutting various sizes of metal to specified dimensions.
- Responsible for cleaning, storage and maintaining assigned PPE and equipment.
- Adherence with company safety and environmental standards
- Perform pre-shift and post-shift inspections to ensure equipment is in good working order
- Assisting with yard/facility cleanup and maintenance
Qualifications:
- 2-3 years previous torch/burner experience
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to work in an outdoor environment
- Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment up to 50 pounds
- Ability to safely and efficiently operate cutting torch
- Must be qualified to wear a respirator and be able to pass a respiratory fit test.
- Experience working within the Scrap Metal industry an asset
Safety:
This position requires the following personal protective equipment be worn at all times:
- Safety glasses.
- Head protection.
- Hard toe work boots.
- High visibility safety vest.
- Other protective equipment as required.
