Wegner CPAs is partnering with a local non-profit organization hiring for a Senior Accountant to join the team in their Madison, WI office. This role is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting operations, preparing financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP, and supporting audits and financial planning efforts. Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy of all financial data.
- Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Assist in month-end and year-end close processes.
- Manage fixed asset accounting, accruals, and journal entries.
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and analysis.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
- Prepare and review balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow reports.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CPA-eligible preferred).
Experience:
- 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in both public and corporate accounting environments.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, QuickBooks, or Oracle).
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, financial modeling).
