Founding Engineer

This role is for one of the Weekday's clients

Salary range: $170K - $220K

Min Experience: 3 years

In this role, you will collaborate directly with the founding team, contribute to strategic decisions, and have end-to-end ownership of technical execution. You will help us solve complex challenges, ship features quickly, and ensure a seamless user experience, all while laying down scalable and sustainable systems for the future.

Key Responsibilities

• Product Development: Design, develop, and deploy core features across the full stack to deliver high-quality user experiences.
• Architecture & Scalability: Build scalable systems and infrastructure that can grow with the product and support future business needs.
• End-to-End Ownership: Take complete ownership of features from ideation, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Collaboration with Founders: Work closely with the founding team to align on product vision, technical priorities, and company objectives.
• Innovation & Problem-Solving: Identify bottlenecks, propose innovative solutions, and implement best practices in engineering.
• Culture Building: Set the tone for engineering excellence, mentor future team members, and contribute to a culture of collaboration, agility, and accountability.
• Agility & Experimentation: Quickly build and test prototypes, experiment with new technologies, and iterate rapidly based on feedback.
• DevOps & Deployment: Manage cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and ensure reliability, security, and performance of systems.
  
  

Skills & Qualifications

• Experience: 3-6 years of hands-on software engineering experience, ideally in fast-growing product-based startups.
• Technical Skills:
• Strong proficiency in at least one backend language (e.g., Go, Java, Python, Node.js).
• Experience with frontend frameworks (React.js, Next.js, Angular, or similar).
• Solid understanding of databases (SQL & NoSQL) and data modeling.
• Exposure to DevOps practices, CI/CD, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Engineering Practices: Strong fundamentals in system design, algorithms, and problem-solving.
• Startup Mindset: Comfortable wearing multiple hats, working with ambiguity, and contributing beyond code when needed.
• Soft Skills: Excellent communication, ability to work independently, and strong collaboration skills with non-technical stakeholders.
