Position Summary:

The SUDP Clinical Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the clinical quality and compliance of all counseling services provided by SUDP and SUDPT staff. This includes reviewing clinical documentation, monitoring compliance with ASAM criteria, and ensuring timely completion of treatment plans, assessments, and required clinical trainings. This individual plays a critical role in maintaining the clinical integrity of our treatment programs and provides required clinical supervision to all SUDP Trainees. This is a full-time, on-site position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to all SUDP Trainees (SUDPTs), including documentation of supervision hours, development plans, and ongoing progress.
  • Ensure supervision meets Washington State Department of Health (DOH) standards, including verifying and sharing proof of supervisor qualifications with each SUDPT before supervision begins.
  • Review and sign off on all clinical documentation produced by SUDPTs and SUDPs for accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with ASAM criteria and state documentation requirements.
  • Monitor and ensure timely completion of ASAM assessments, individualized treatment plans, progress notes, service encounters, and discharge summaries.
  • Conduct regular audits of clinical records, identify documentation gaps or trends, and implement corrective action plans as needed to maintain compliance.
  • Ensure clinical staff maintain fidelity to approved treatment models, ethical standards, and evidence-based practices.
  • Lead or facilitate clinical case reviews, reflective supervision sessions, and regular clinical skills trainings for the counseling team.
  • Maintain boundaries in accordance with WAC 246-811-049, ensuring supervisory relationships are not in conflict (e.g., not a relative, cohabitant, or former primary counselor).
  • Stay current with all applicable state and federal regulations, WAC updates, and professional licensing requirements, and integrate changes into team workflows.
  • Collaborate with the Manager of Recovery Programs to align clinical documentation standards and staff development with broader service goals and member programming.
  • Serve as point of contact for licensing, auditing, or compliance reviews related to clinical counseling services.
  • Participate in development of clinical policies, workflows, and documentation standards.

Qualifications:

  • Must hold an active SUDP credential in Washington State in good standing, with no disciplinary restrictions.
  • Minimum of 1 year (2,000 hours) of experience practicing as a certified SUDP (trainee hours do not count toward this requirement).
  • Completion of 28 hours of clinical supervisor training (must be completed prior to or within the first year of providing supervision).
  • Minimum 3 years of overall experience as a practicing SUDP, with at least 1 year in a supervisory, quality assurance, or documentation compliance capacity preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ASAM criteria, clinical documentation standards, and Washington State documentation requirements.
  • Proven experience supervising and mentoring SUDP Trainees (SUDPTs), including managing supervision logs, sign-offs, and training plans.
  • Ability to provide documentation of supervisor qualifications to each SUDPT before supervision begins, as required by WAC 246-811-049.
  • Strong organizational, clinical review, and compliance skills, with attention to detail and timeliness.
  • Ability to build trust and accountability among peers and model ethical supervisory relationships (not a relative, cohabitant, or former counselor of supervisees).
