Join Our Mission!

We Care Daily Clinics (WCDC) is a warm, welcoming, and modern facility that provides treatment for addiction in a person-centered environment located in Auburn. WCDC seeks to renew hope and purpose for those battling opioid use by removing barriers, providing a holistic approach to recovery, and utilizing evidence-based treatment to restore healthy living. Our top priority is to provide the highest levels of patient-centered care to those we serve.

WCDC is an Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) facility using FDA approved medication paired with behavioral health counseling. Our individual service plans are built around patients in a supportive, safe environment to create a personalized pathway to recovery. In addition to recovery, we also offer planned patient transportation and family and social support.

Position Summary:

The Associate Medical Director will support the Medical Director in the clinical and administrative leadership of the opioid treatment program (OTP). The Associate Medical Director will assist in overseeing the medical care of patients, including medication management for opioid use disorder (MOUD) and related substance use conditions. Working under the supervision and delegation of the Medical Director, the Associate Medical Director will provide clinical oversight to nonphysician providers, nurses, and medical assistants, contribute to the clinical teaching of medical learners, and assist in providing regulatory oversight, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based care delivery in accordance with federal and state regulations. Such delegation may include tasks including but not limited to those described by 42 CFR’s description of the Medical Director role:

Medical director means a physician, licensed to practice medicine in the jurisdiction in which the OTP is located, who assumes responsibility for all medical and behavioral health services provided by the program, including their administration. A medical director may delegate specific responsibilities to authorized program physicians, appropriately licensed non-physician practitioners with prescriptive authority functioning under the medical director's supervision, or appropriately licensed and/or credentialed non-physician healthcare professionals providing services in the OTP, in compliance with applicable Federal and State laws. Such delegations will not eliminate the medical director's responsibility for all medical and behavioral health services provided by the OTP.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Medical Director in overseeing the medical care of patients, including but not limited to the provision and management of MOUD.
  • Provide clinical oversight and supervision to nonphysician practitioners, nurses, and medical assistants, ensuring adherence to medical policies and best practices.
  • Participate in the clinical teaching and mentorship of medical learners, including fellows, residents, and students.
  • Collaborate with the clinical team to implement evidence-based treatment plans and ensure continuity of care.
  • Assist in developing, reviewing, and implementing clinical policies and procedures under the direction of the Medical Director.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Assist with the training, evaluation, and development of physician and nonphysician provider team members, as well as that of nurses and medical assistants.
  • Participate in medical staff meetings to review clinical cases, facilitate discussions on best practices, and contribute to interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Contribute to completion of medically-related regulatory tasks, such as federal and state applications, permits, and site surveys, as delegated by the Medical Director.
  • Work with the clinic administrator and leadership to maintain effective treatment and service delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant state and federal laws related to OTPs, including correspondence with regulatory agencies such as SAMHSA, DEA, and State Opioid Treatment Authority.
  • Depending on assignment, the organization’s Associate Medical Director may function under the delegation of the organization's Medical Director at a given location, or may be designated as the Site Medical Director of a certified OTP site, assuming responsibility under 42 CFR § 8.2 for that program's medical and behavioral health services. This position may carry responsibilities across more than one clinic site, including the organization's current locations (Auburn, Puyallup, and multiple Seattle sites) as well as future OTP sites as the organization expands.

Requirements:

  • Medical degree (Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)) with a valid and unrestricted Washington State medical license.
  • Individual, unrestricted DEA license.
  • Board certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics/Gynecology, or Psychiatry, with additional addiction-specific board certification in either Addiction Medicine or Addiction Psychiatry.
  • Experience in substance use disorder treatment, particularly with MOUD, with experience in the OTP environment preferred.
  • Strong leadership and collaborative skills, with willingness to supervise nonphysician practitioners.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor medical learners.
  • Commitment to evidence-based, patient-centered care.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical record systems.
  • Working knowledge of state and federal regulations governing OTPs.
