Job Summary/Basic Function:
Work with Network & Communications team implementing, testing and evaluating network infrastructure including but not limited to switching, routing, and wireless, cloud (AWS, OCI, Azure) networks. Supporting WSU Ogden & Davis campuses and all other remote locations. Take lead on large network related projects. Troubleshoot and fix network related issues. Participate in the Network & Communications on-call rotation. Monitor quality and install of network physical plant (CAT6, CAT6A, fiber, etc.) Assist with campus IPTV and video surveillance system.

Required Qualifications:
Required:
  • Bachelors Degree in related IT field or related equivalent work experience.
  • 6 years full-time experience in network related field
  • Direct experience with:
    • Network switching (VLANs, STP, LACP, VPC, VRRP)
    • IPv4 & IPv6 - Firewalls - VPNs (IPSEC, SSL)
    • IP address management (DNS/DHCP)
    • Routing (BGP, OSPF, PIM)
    • Authentication (Radius, TACACS , 802.1x)
    • Load-balancers
    • Network management software
    • Network testing tools
  • Experience Managing medium sized technology projects

Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred:
  • Masters degree.
  • Cisco CCDE, CCIE, CCAr preferred - (Wireless) Certified Wireless Network Professional CWDP or CWNE

This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles. , Operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect, or position. , Expressing or exchanging ideas. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important instructions to other workers accurately or quickly. , Ability to receive detailed information with or without assistance., Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

Physical Requirements of this position: Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Visual Acuity Requirements including color, depth perception and field of vision: Required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; using a computer terminal; extensive reading., Required to have visual acuity to perform activities such as: operating machines, (i.e. lathes, drill presses, power saws) where the job is at or within arms reach; skilled trades tasks of a non-repetitive nature, such as carpenter, plumber, mechanic. , Required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment. , Required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned (i.e., custodial, food services,) or to make general observations of facilities or structures (i.e., security guard, inspection).
