Job Summary/Basic Function
The Military-Affiliated Support / Resource Specialist provides high-level administrative support and specialized student services split equally between the Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) program and the Military-Affiliated Student Center (MASC). This role serves as a critical first point of contact for veteran and military-affiliated students, managing office operations, budgets, assisting with VUB program enrollment and basic skills tutoring, and executing the foundational phases of the MASC student certification operations efforts.
Required Qualifications
Required:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Two years of related administrative or clerical experience
- Computer experience with data management systems, word processing, and spreadsheets (e.g., Google Workspace)
- Valid Utah State Drivers License or ability to obtain one upon hire
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred:
- U.S. Military Veteran or Affiliated status
- One or more years of experience in tutoring in math, computers, foreign language, science or English composition skills
- Experience with VA education benefits, grant programs (TRiO), or higher education administrative processes
- Experience with VA rules and regulations as it applies to VA Educational Benefits
- Familiarity with the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and Personal Identifying Information (PII) Safeguards
- Strong Written and Verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of Banner Student System and Higher Education registration/records/accounting operations and procedures
