Job Summary/Basic Function
The person in this position will provide coaching to early childhood family child care providers as assigned by the Office of Child Care (OCC). They will use Practice Based Coaching tools to support family child care providers in achieving goals created from the Child Care Quality System.
They will also support child care centers who have applied for the Child Care Quality system by conducting observations and related procedures as assigned by OCC. The person in this position must become reliable on the three Environment Rating Scale tools used by the Office of Child Care (ITERS-3, ECERS-3, FCCERS-3). They need to achieve an 85% inter-rater reliable score on each of the tools. This position may support virtual learning opportunities through teaching classes and providing support to peer learning communities as assigned and may function as an instructor for Care About Childcare courses.
This position requires travel to Weber, Davis, Cache, and Morgan counties, and other areas as assigned within the state of Utah on a regular basis. A driver’s license and reliable transportation is required.
The person in this position may be asked to work evenings and weekends on occasion and will need to have a current driver’s license.
Required Qualifications
Required:
- Current CDA (Child Development Associate Credential)
- Three years of experience in a child care facility or related experience
OR
- Associate’s degree with classes in Early Childhood Education, Family and Human Development, or a closely related field.
- Two years of experience in a child care facility or related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood or related field.
- Experience working in a child care facility.
- Experience working in a Family Child Care setting
- Six months working in training and/or supporting adults in caregiving practices and their professional development
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to make suggestions and give appropriate information based on nationally recognized best practices and Utah Child Care Licensing regulations for child care professions.
