Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to foster independence and dignity.
- Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Support medical procedures by preparing patients, maintaining aseptic techniques, and assisting with tasks like catheter care and wound management.
- Facilitate patient transfers using appropriate equipment such as Hoyer lifts or manual handling techniques to ensure safety for both patients and staff.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations while documenting care activities thoroughly in medical records.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to coordinate care plans and address individual needs.
- Support specialized care units including memory care, dementia care, hospice, ICU, emergency medicine, pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health, or post-acute settings as required.
Experience
- Prior experience working in long-term care facilities or nursing homes is highly valued.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, vital signs monitoring, and basic life support (BLS) certification.
- Experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation.
- Familiarity with assisted living environments or home & community care enhances your ability to deliver personalized patient service.
- Exposure to critical care areas like ICU or Level I Trauma Centers is advantageous for those seeking advanced clinical skills.
- Proven ability to work with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges across various healthcare settings.
- Strong caregiving skills complemented by knowledge of infection control practices such as aseptic technique and safe lifting practices.
