Job purpose
The MOCTT Logistics Integration Specialist is responsible for understanding, planning, coordinating, and executing complex logistical operations in support of military deployments, exercises, and humanitarian assistance/disaster relief efforts. Additionally, this role requires demonstrated instructional expertise to develop and deliver training programs related to logistics and supply chain management. This position demands a deep understanding of supply chain management, operational planning, joint logistics principles, and adult learning methodologies. Additional understanding of the integration of the Logistics War Fighting Function on a MEF/MEU/DIV or Joint Staff. The successful candidate will possess strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and instructional skills, and be capable of working effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Duties and responsibilities
- Supply Chain Management
- Oversee the planning, procurement, storage, distribution, and disposal of material, ensuring the right supplies reach the right place at the right time. This includes demand forecasting, inventory management, transportation coordination, and hazardous material handling.
- Operational Planning
- Develop and execute logistical plans in support of various operations, coordinating with other units, agencies, and international partners. Anticipate and mitigate potential logistical challenges.
- Force Flow Logistics
- Plan, coordinate, and manage the movement of personnel, equipment, and supplies across multiple locations and transportation modes. Oversee the establishment and operation of forward logistical bases, ensuring continuous support to deployed forces. Manage resource allocation, distribution, tracking, and sustainment functions, including resupply, maintenance, and communication.
- Specialized Joint Logistics Functions
- Provide expertise in Operational Contract Support (OCS), financial management, joint logistics information systems, and legal support as it pertains to logistical activities.
- Joint Logistics Planning
- Participate in the development of joint operational plans (OPLANs), concept plans (CONPLANs), and other planning documents, ensuring logistical feasibility and sustainability. Coordinate resource allocation among different components and commands.
- Interoperability and Multinational Coordination
- Ensure seamless logistical support across different services and nations by establishing common standards, procedures, and communication protocols. Liaise with logistical representatives from partner nations to coordinate joint logistical efforts.
- Deployment and Distribution
- Manage the deployment and distribution of assets worldwide, adhering to relevant regulations, policies, and procedures. Coordinate airlift, sealift, and surface transportation requirements with appropriate commands (AMC, MSC, SDDC).
- Crisis Response and Humanitarian Assistance
- Support logistical operations in response to global crises and humanitarian assistance/disaster relief efforts.
- Instructional Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver engaging and informative training programs on logistics and supply chain management principles, processes, and procedures.
- Utilize a variety of instructional methodologies, including lectures, discussions, case studies, simulations, and practical exercises.
- Assess student learning and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain current knowledge of logistics best practices and emerging trends.
- Develop and update training materials, including lesson plans, presentations, and handouts.
- Mentor and coach senior staff members
- Curriculum Development
- Contribute to the development and review of logistics training curricula, ensuring alignment with operational requirements and industry best practices.
Qualifications
- Instructional Experience: Proven experience in designing, developing, and delivering training programs to adult learners.
- Knowledge of Adult Learning Principles: Familiarity with adult learning theories and best practices in instructional design.
- Platform Skills: Demonstrated ability to effectively deliver instruction in a variety of settings, including classroom, online, and field environments.
- Curriculum Development Experience: Experience in developing and reviewing training curricula is highly desirable.
Education
- Master’s degree preferred
Military and Operational Experience:
- E8/E9 or O6/O7
- Supporting Key Military Units: MEF, MLG, Marine Infantry Division (as G4/J4)
- Exercise and Deployment Participation: ITX, DFT, HA/DR operations
- Component Command Coordination: USTRANSCOM (AMC, MSC, SDDC) - airlift, sealift, surface transport
- Joint Deployment and Distribution Enterprise (JDDE) Familiarity: Collaboration with commercial and international partners
- Global Command and Control Systems Expertise: Tracking shipments and managing global transportation
- Deployment and Distribution Process Knowledge: Regulations, policies, and procedures
- Crisis Response and Humanitarian Assistance Experience
- Joint Logistics Planning: OPLANs, CONPLANs development, feasibility and sustainability assessment
- Interoperability: Cross-service and international logistical support coordination
