Position Overview
We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Tax Preparer with strong tax preparation and client service experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will be skilled in preparing and reviewing a wide range of tax returns, providing tax planning guidance, and maintaining compliance with federal and state tax laws. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare individual (1040) and business returns (1120, 1120-S, 1065) with accuracy and efficiency
- Review tax documents, identify discrepancies, and request additional information when needed
- Conduct tax research and ensure compliance with current federal and state regulations
- Communicate directly with clients in a professional, supportive manner
- Maintain detailed records and uphold strict confidentiality standards
- Assist with tax planning and advisory initiatives
- Support the team during peak filing seasons and contribute to ongoing process improvements
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of tax preparation experience in a tax preparation company, public accounting or tax firm environment.
- Strong understanding of federal and state tax laws and filing requirements
- Proficiency with tax software (e.g., ATX, Drake, Lacerte, UltraTax, or similar)
- Skilled in Microsoft Office; QuickBooks experience is a plus
- Active PTIN required; EA or CPA preferred but not required
- Strong analytical abilities and exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple clients and meet filing deadlines.
- Excellent communication and client-service skills
