Role: Special Needs Support Staff, also known as Independent Life Skills Trainer or Direct Support Professional
Pay: $20/hr
Location: Conway, SC
Client schedule: Tuesdays & Thursdays ( 1pm- 7pm ) = 12 hours per week
In this role specific, we are looking for staff to immediately start with a client with the schedule above. This client has goal surrounding daily life routines, many focusing to live independently. We are looking for someone who is patient and ideally has experience with individuals with speech impairments.
Being hired as a Special Needs Support Staff will also allow you to work with other clients we have in the program or with We Care Home Care on the Home Health side, for more additional hours.
Individuals receiving Independent Living Skills (ILS) Waiver services live in these surrounding areas which includes; Horry, Georgetown, Marion counties, South Carolina. Being open to travel will increase opportunites for additional work.
Role Overview:
The Special Needs Support Staff (ILS Trainer) is the staff providing direct services with the Individual/s you are assigned with, All ILS Trainers focus on providing ILS services, safety, and quality of life, fostering dignity, respect, and independence.
Key Responsibilities:
Supporting and Assisting Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Challenges, TBI and Spinal Card with working on their personalized goals which include: Coping Skills, Emergency and Safety Skills, Food Management, Health, Housekeeping, Housing, Interpersonal Skills, Knowledge of Community Resources, Legal Skills, Money Management and Awareness, Personal Appearance and Hygiene, Behavioral Support: Implement behavior plans and encourage positive engagement, Activities & Socialization: Lead recreational activities and outings, Communication: Maintain professional contact with families and team members.
Documentation Skills Needed: Record care, incidents, and observations per policy.
Other Requirements:
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Compassion, patience, and reliability.
- Valid SC driver’s license with a clean driving record.
* Must have at least one year of experience with the target population (adults living with Intellectual and Developmental disabilities, TBI diagnosis, Spinal Cord injuries).
Qualifications required: Must be at least 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or equivalent (GED), Have the ability to speak, read, and write English.
- Capable of following the Plan of Care with minimal supervision.
- Have no record of abuse, neglect, crimes, committed against another or felonious conviction of any kind.
- Are free of communicable diseases.
- Maintain a valid driver's license and are insurable.
- Have references from past employment.
Strong teamwork and communication skills, Compassion, patience, and reliability. Background checks will be completed, for Criminal Records Checks and Reference Checks of Direct Caregivers.
Pay: $20.00 per hour
