Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dependable Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with developmental disabilities, empowering them to lead meaningful, fulfilling lives while promoting independence and overall well-being. This position involves assisting with daily living activities, meal preparation, and fostering a safe, positive, and supportive environment within a group home or assisted living setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct, hands-on support to individuals with developmental disabilities in a residential setting.
- Assist with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, and mobility.
- Prepare nutritious meals in accordance with dietary guidelines and individual preferences.
- Monitor, document, and report progress, behaviors, and any changes in health or well-being.
- Encourage participation in recreational, social, and community-based activities to enhance quality of life.
- Implement individualized care plans and support strategies tailored to each person’s needs.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and team members to ensure comprehensive care.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in caregiving or direct support is preferred, particularly in group home or assisted living settings.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) is highly preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport.
- Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus.
- Ability to observe, document, and communicate changes in behavior or health.
- Compassionate, patient, and committed to supporting others.
- High school diploma or equivalent required
