About the Role
We Are Signal HQ is hiring a Graphic Designer to create advertising and marketing materials for print and digital campaigns. You’ll work closely with our writers to turn campaign ideas into designs that are ready for publication, whether they appear on billboards around Montgomery, in social media feeds, or in customers’ inboxes.
What You’ll Do
- Design billboards, flyers, print advertisements, social media graphics, and email templates.
- Prepare artwork to the correct dimensions and specifications for each platform or print format.
- Produce print-ready files and review proofs from vendors before materials are printed.
- Maintain organised folders of client logos, fonts, colour palettes, and other brand assets.
- Work with writers to develop layouts that support the message and purpose of each campaign.
- Revise designs based on client feedback, testing results, and available performance data.
- Check final files for layout issues, sizing errors, and inconsistencies before delivery.
- Keep project files organised so that artwork can be updated or reused when needed.
Skills and Experience
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign, or strong practical experience with Figma.
- A good understanding of typography, spacing, composition, and visual hierarchy.
- The ability to design for both large outdoor displays and smaller digital formats.
- Experience preparing files for commercial printing, including checking specifications and proofs.
- A portfolio featuring advertising, marketing materials, or comparable graphic design work.
- The ability to follow a brief, manage revisions, and work with colleagues to meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail when preparing artwork and checking final designs.
- The ability to explain design decisions and report campaign results accurately.
How We Work
We value clear plans, straightforward reporting, and honest assessments of results. You should be able to explain the reasoning behind a design without relying on unnecessary jargon, identify what the available data tells us, and recognise when more testing is needed.
Hiring Process
Our hiring process includes:
- An initial phone conversation.
- A take-home exercise involving a one-page plan for a sample client.
- An in-person visit to our Montgomery office.
The exercise will help us understand how you approach a brief, organise your ideas, and communicate a proposed campaign.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
