The Product Development department is looking for someone who can demonstrate the WCF values to join their team as a Senior Product Development Specialist.
The Senior Product Development Specialist will play a key role in designing, analyzing, and enhancing commercial auto insurance products. This role demands expertise in market standards, coverage forms, and customer needs, with responsibility for coverage design and cross-functional collaboration to deliver innovative, market-driven solutions.
This is an exempt position that reports to the VP, Product Development. This position is open to internal and external candidates.
The person in this position works out of the WCF's Sandy, Utah headquarters or one of the regional offices located in Roseville, CA; Boise, ID; or Denver, CO. Hybrid (office/home) option is available.
Responsibilities
Utah and Idaho expected salary range: $78,000 - $98,000. Colorado expected salary range: $86,000 - $108,000. California expected salary range: $90,000 - $112,000. Salary depends on location, experience, and education.
An internal candidate should have six months in their current position, acceptable job performance, and must notify their current supervisor that they have applied for the position.

Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth market research to identify customer needs, competitor offerings, and emerging trends.
- Assist in the development and refinement of commercial auto insurance products, including coverage features, eligibility criteria, and underwriting guidelines.
- Collaborate with actuarial, underwriting, claims, legal, and IT teams to ensure product alignment and successful implementation.
- Prepare and maintain product documentation, including coverage summaries, policy forms, and regulatory filings.
- Communicate product changes and enhancements to internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Support product launches and monitor initial performance to ensure products meet strategic objectives.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on commercial auto insurance products within the organization.
- Build and maintain dashboards and tools to track product performance and support decision-making.
- Analyze product performance using data that measures sales conversion, retention, and profitability.
- Use data analysis, as well as benchmarking and other qualitative work, to recommend product improvements.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to the development of best practices in product development.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Insurance, Finance, Economics, Actuarial Science, or related fields.
- At least five years of work experience in commercial lines with at least two years of background in product development and auto insurance.
- Understanding of auto insurance products, pricing, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Strong working knowledge of Excel, SQL, data visualization tools.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to lead product design initiatives from concept to launch.
- Successful track record for completion of product development projects.
