Responsibilities
- Assist in food preparation by following recipes, portioning ingredients, and assembling meals efficiently
- Serve students and staff with friendly, in-person customer service, ensuring a positive dining experience
- Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, microwaves, dishwashers, and food warmers safely and effectively
- Maintain cleanliness by cleaning workstations, utensils, tables, and cafeteria areas according to food safety sanitizing procedures
- Handle manual tasks including weight handling of food items and processing cash transactions accurately using POS systems
- Follow strict food safety management practices to ensure proper storage, handling, and disposal of food items
- Support dietary needs by adhering to dietary guidelines and accommodating special meal requests when necessary
Experience
- Previous experience in food handling or food service environments is highly preferred, especially within school, restaurant, catering or hospitality settings
- Familiarity with fine dining or banquet service can be an asset for maintaining high standards of presentation and customer care
- Experience operating kitchen equipment safely and efficiently is essential
- Knowledge of food safety sanitizing procedures and basic math skills for inventory management are important for success in this role
- Barista or culinary experience enhances ability to prepare diverse menu items with precision and care
- Prior work involving processing cash transactions or working with POS systems is advantageous
- Candidates with catering or dietary aide experience will find this role aligns well with their background in food industry standards
