Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled GIS Analyst to join our team and play a key role in designing, specifying, and managing fiber optic networks for broadband and utility projects across the PNW. This is a full-time, salaried remote position based out of Washington State, with a projected start date of June 1, 2026. In this role, you will leverage your GIS expertise to support fiber network planning, mapping, and implementation, contributing directly to our mission of delivering cutting-edge broadband solutions.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and create detailed geospatial models, maps, and schematics for fiber optic network infrastructure, including route planning, fiber placement, and connectivity layouts.
• Analyze spatial data to support network design, optimization, feasibility assessments, and permitting processes.
• Maintain and update GIS databases with accurate fiber network information, including as-built documentation, splice points, and utility integrations.
• Collaborate with engineering, sales, and project teams to specify fiber solutions and produce high-quality cartographic outputs and reports.
• Perform spatial analysis to identify optimal paths, assess coverage gaps, and support broadband expansion initiatives.
• Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
• Utilize Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for data management, reporting, and presentations.
Qualifications
Required:
• Minimum of 3 years of professional GIS experience.
• Background in utility and/or broadband/telecommunications fields, with specific experience in fiber optic network design, mapping, or management.
• Proficiency with GIS software (e.g., ESRI ArcGIS suite preferred; experience with other tools like QGIS or AutoCAD considered).
• Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with distributed teams.
• Authorized to work in the United States (this position is remote but based in Washington State).
Preferred:
• Experience with fiber network planning tools, broadband mapping platforms, or utility GIS applications.
• Familiarity with fiber optic infrastructure concepts (e.g., FTTH, OSP design, splice matrices).
• Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Cartography, Engineering, or a related field.
