Description:
Waypoint’s client is seeking a Threat Requirements Engineer to join their team! In this role, you will support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Targets and Countermeasures Program Office, developing and refining the capabilities of MDA target systems used to test missile defense systems.
Responsibilities:
- Apply physics and engineering-based analysis to aerospace systems, navigation, guidance and control, rocket propulsion, aerodynamics, and aerothermal performance to develop recommendations on target configurations and technology development to meet missile defense system flight test requirements.
- Capture and write flight test, target, and countermeasure requirements recommendations for government review and approval, leveraging technical aptitude, intelligence reports, and Element requirements.
- Translate intelligence reports on ballistic and hypersonic adversary systems into summary products that guide target system development and requirements.
- Use expertise in countermeasure development and application to frame requirements for flight testing and/or develop countermeasure technology requirements.
- Apply Missile Defense System subject matter expertise to reconcile conflicting target requirement sets and negotiate mutually acceptable solutions across the Elements and Flight Test communities.
- Support Targets Program Office systems engineering activities in coordination with other MDA engineering teams, the Prime Contractor, and Other Government Agencies (OGAs).
- Obtain and review technical information from the prime contractor as requested by the Government customer.
- Ensure levied requirements are properly flowed down and verify compliance.
- Master’s degree in a STEM field with 12 years of experience on missile defense-related or other large, complex DoD programs/projects.
- Active Top Secret security clearance.
- Familiarity with MDA and/or DoD programs and processes.
- Experience reading and analyzing missile and space intelligence reports.
- Ability to present technical information to the scientific and engineering community and support presentations to General Officers and Senior Executive Service members.
- Strong engineering rigor in solving engineering and scientific problems.
- Proven experience writing, presenting, and coordinating engineering plans, policies, procedures, and requirements.
- Understanding of system interface requirements and requirements management.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to produce clear, concise, audience-relevant documentation and presentations.
- Experience reviewing systems engineering documentation to ensure specifications meet system needs and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently, as a team member, or in a leadership role.
- Experience working in a configuration-controlled environment and ensuring proper handling levels are applied to items.
- Willingness to travel 10–20%.
- Familiarity with MDA and systems engineering processes.
- Experience with technical proposal development and evaluation.
- Knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
