Job Summary
Waynesborough Country Club is looking for a dependable and detail-oriented Banquet Captain to lead our event service team. In this role, you’ll be the "boots on the ground" leader responsible for making sure our events—from weddings to small member dinners—run smoothly from start to finish. We’re looking for someone who stays calm under pressure, takes pride in a well-set room, and knows how to lead a team to provide great service.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Floor: Supervise the service staff during events to ensure they are productive, professional, and following club standards.
- Event Execution: Review Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and oversee the setup and breakdown of rooms. If the plan calls for it, you will make sure it happens.
- Team Coordination: Work closely with the Kitchen and the Catering Director, so everyone is on the same page regarding timing and special requests.
- Training: Help new and seasonal staff get up to speed on how we do things at Waynesborough.
- Problem Solving: Be the go-to person on the floor. If a guest has a concern or a minor issue pops up, you handle it quickly and professionally.
- Maintain Standards: Keep an eye on our event spaces and equipment to ensure everything is clean, organized, and in good working order.
- Reporting: Provide a brief "debrief" to management at the end of the shift regarding event successes, member feedback, or any operational needs.
Communication & Interpersonal Skills
- Clear Direction: Ability to give concise, helpful instructions to staff in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional Presence: Comfortable communicating with club members and their guests in a polite and helpful manner.
- Active Listening: Able to take direction from the Banquet Manager and Culinary team and translate those needs into action on the floor.
- Proactive Reporting: Keeps management informed of any important updates throughout the night to ensure a "no surprises" environment.

Qualifications:Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience in banquets or a high-volume restaurant, with some experience in a lead or supervisory role.
- Knowledge: Solid understanding of food and drink service. You should know how to run a dining room effectively.
- Reliability: Someone who shows up ready to work and can handle the physical nature of the job (standing for long periods and lifting up to 50 lbs).
- Schedule: Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays based on our event calendar.
- Certifications: ServSafe and RAMP certifications are a plus.
