About the Role
Join a trusted Michigan manufacturer producing precision metal mesh filters used in industrial and commercial applications, since 1943!
As aPress Setup/Operator, you’ll set up and operate kick presses, punch presses, and other metal forming equipment to keep production running efficiently and safely.
This position is ideal for someone with a mechanical mindset and experience or interest in metal stamping, manufacturing, or press operation. What You’ll Do
Set up and operate manual and semi-automatic presses as directed by the Department Leader or Setup Technician
Verify all safety devices are installed and in working order
Perform first-piece inspection and buyoff to confirm product quality
Continuously improve and reduce machine setup time
Organize setup tools, dies, and arbors for efficiency
React quickly to quality or equipment issues
Operate metal cutting and forming machinery (kick presses, convoluters, dial presses, chandlers)
Read shop packets and blueprints to confirm specifications and production requirements
Measure parts using micrometers, calipers, and go/no-go gauges
Maintain accurate counts of good and scrap parts
Keep work area clean, safe, and well-organized
Assist with production and secondary operations when setups are not required
What You Bring
High school diploma or GED
1–3 months of related experience in manufacturing, production, or machine operation (preferred)
Ability to read blueprints and follow work instructions
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Basic math and measurement abilities
Reliable, detail-oriented, and safety-conscious
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and remain seated for extended periods
Team-oriented attitude and commitment to quality work
Physical & Work Environment
Frequent lifting up to 25–30 lbs
Regular exposure to machine oils, heat, and moving mechanical parts
Work may involve sitting, bending, or standing during operation
Requires close and peripheral vision for small-part inspection
Moderate to loud noise typical of a production manufacturing environment
