Essential Functions (job Duties)
The Department of Biological Sciences at Wayne State University invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Teaching position with an expected starting date of August 18, 2026. The full-time position is for the academic year (9-month). The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses (introductory general biology, microbiology, biochemistry, and/or anatomy and physiology) for biology majors and for students preparing for the allied health sciences. In addition, the candidate may also have the opportunity to teach upper-level courses in their area of specialty. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to curriculum development, course design, and assessment of student learning outcomes.
We seek applicants with experience using evidence-based pedagogies and the potential to apply these pedagogies across contexts, including large lectures and smaller course settings. At least 3 years of instructional experience, including experience as the instructor of record, are preferred.
The position is union-represented but is not tenure-track. The position offers a competitive salary, an excellent health care package, and other benefits.
