About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant / Cost Accountant with a strong background in the construction industry. This role will be responsible for overseeing financial reporting, job costing, budgeting, and ensuring accurate cost tracking across multiple construction projects. The ideal candidate brings both strategic insight and hands-on expertise in construction accounting practices, including procurement and billing cycles.
Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle accounting processes, including general ledger, month-end, and year-end close
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports
- Oversee job costing, tracking project budgets vs. actuals
- Manage and maintain Work In Progress (WIP) schedules
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of the full Purchase Order (PO) cycle, from creation and approval through receipt, invoicing, and reconciliation
- Monitor project costs, including labor, materials, subcontractors, and overhead
- Assist with payroll operations, including job cost allocations and compliance with labor regulations
- Handle progress billing, including preparation and review of AIA billing documents (e.g., G702, G703)
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate cost tracking, forecasting, and billing
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and construction-specific accounting standards
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
- Support audits and tax preparation processes
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; Business or Accounting degree highly preferred.
- Experience with accounting in the Construction industry highly preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Required Skills
- Must be reliable and extremely trustworthy.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and related programs.
- Experience with accounting software systems, utilize Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

- Ability to maintain confidential and meticulous records.

Salary : $75,000 - $85,000
