Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Maintenance Person to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in residential maintenance and facilities management, with the ability to read and interpret schematics and manage various maintenance tasks. This role requires a proactive approach to maintaining equipment and facilities, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.
Essential Functions of The Position
- Performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled building and equipment maintenance activities in order to ensure the upkeep of agency property (e.g., repairs plumbing fixtures and pipes; locates and repairs leaks to pipes and valves; repairs burner controls and switches and rewires electrical ranges; repairs or replaces electrical switches, outlets, fixtures, and circuit breakers; repairs windows, doors, locks, and door frames; repairs alarm systems and controls; checks condition of boilers and makes repairs to oil pumps and valves); responds to emergency call-outs for maintenance.
- Performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled maintenance activities in order to ensure the proper upkeep of agency property (e.g., removes snow and ice, etc.).
- Inspects housing units in order to determine maintenance work to be completed.
- Assists with the planning of the preventive maintenance and regular repair program for agency buildings and property.
- Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
- Prepares and submits work-related records such as task completed, time spent, materials used, etc.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or directed in order to promote, further, and ensure the effective and efficient operation of the Wayne Metropolitan Housing Authority.
Experience
- Proven experience in residential maintenance or a related field is preferred.
- Agency policies and procedures;* safety practices and procedures; building maintenance methods and procedures; (heating, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting); grounds maintenance methods and procedures; mechanical equipment maintenance and repair.
- Familiarity with facilities management practices.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities in managing small teams or projects.
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude while working under pressure.
- Use or operation of hand, power, and shop tools; use or operation of light motorized equipment
- Candidates with experience in electrical, HVAC or advanced troubleshooting will be highly regarded.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
