Wayne Metropolitan Community Action Agency consists of staff dedicated to serving others, which include professionalism, empathy, respect, excellent client service, maintaining confidentiality, punctuality with regular attendance. We provide assistance to low to moderate income families to help address their most critical needs. The agency has over 70 programs, including valuable educational, housing, and emergency services.
Internship Description:
Responsible for supporting the coordination and implementation of Out-Wayne Continuum of Care (CoC) events, convenings, meetings and activities. The Media & Events Intern will work closely with the CoC Communications Manager, Board Chairperson, Director & AD of Systems Planning, Committees, and members at large to employ strategies for carrying out goals of the CoC and obtaining positive outcomes in addressing homelessness. The Communications Manager will support in the administration of the CoC Program activities and operations of the CoC.
Interns Essential Functions:
Social Media & Content Creation (50%)
- Develop, write, and publish content across various platforms, including social media, website, blogs, email campaigns, and presentations.
- Execute social media strategies aligned with best practices across channels such as Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin and TikTok
- Capture and edit video/photo content for digital storytelling
- Collaborate with the Graphic Designer, Social Media Specialist, and Communications Manager on creative projects
- Assist in developing and executing the Comms Street Team, an internal group promoting our communications strategy
Event Coordination (50%)
- Support the planning, promotion, and execution of internal and external events, including community outreach, program launches, and agency celebrations
- Consult with department representatives to create marketing plans, and strategies for event promotion
- Coordinate logistics, including event setup, vendor communication, and on-site support
- Capture event content for social media and digital platforms
- Provide post-event evaluations and reports to assess effectiveness
Qualified candidates:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Communications, Marketing, Video Production, or a related field
- Passionate about content development, social media strategy, and event planning
- Ability to develop and manage creative projects from start to finish
- Strong writing, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Previous experience with event coordination or digital marketing is a plus
Physical Requirements:

This job operates in a professional office environment with a usually quiet noise level. This is largely a sedentary role and the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. - High school diploma/general education degree (GED) OR a combination of education and experience that is similarly equivalent.
