The Health Information Data Coordinator plays a vital role in managing and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of patient data within the EMR system. This requires analytical skills and a high level of coordination to manage daily work schedules, address patient identification issues and uphold the highest level of data integrity standards in EMR.
Performs master patient index (MPI) data analysis for identifying duplicate/multiple patient files conducted via reports from the electronic medical record. Addresses all requests related to the patient portal. Performs data collection necessary for state regulatory agencies.
Job Requirements
- High School Diploma/Equivalency Required; College courses or HIM degree- preferred
- Previous experience with MPI Maintenance, preferred
- Previous experience in a hospital HIM department preferred
- Analytical skills necessary to identify and correct discrepancies within the Master Patient Index
- Strong Computer skills with willingness to learn various computer software applications
- Critical thinker, possessing strong ability to troubleshoot and identify end user problems
- Knowledge of HIPAA Privacy and Security rules as they relate to keeping PHI confidential and secure
- Ability to operate scanning hardware, fax machine, photocopier, microfiche, telephone and other basic office equipment
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Email, and Internet
- Demonstrate excellent communication (verbal and written), teamwork and customer service
- Work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Detail-oriented and multitasking in a fast pace ever changing healthcare environment
- Flexibility, assignments will vary from day-to-day dependent upon the needs of the department
- Knowledge of medical terminology, preferred
- Knowledge of hospital computer systems and EMRs required. Knowledge of Meditech CS preferred or comparable equivalent level of education, training or work experience, demonstrating the ability to perform the duties required for this position.
