Primary Purpose

Assists with or performs various tasks related to the maintenance of buildings, including electrical, lighting, plumbing, carpentry, heating and air conditioning systems, and automotive maintenance.
Position Duties
- Performs servicing, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance on campus facilities using a computer-based work order system.
- Maintains campus buildings and systems such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and heating and air conditioning (HVAC).
- Conducts scheduled and preventive maintenance on HVAC systems and other college assets.
- Assists with the repair, replacement, or installation of electrical equipment.
- Installs communication network cables and terminations.
- Performs minor carpentry work.
- Obtains parts and supplies for maintenance using institutional requisition procedures.
- Operates assigned motorized vehicles, hand tools, power tools, and other equipment.
- The role requires physically strenuous work, including bending, climbing, and lifting.
- Serves as a member of the College's emergency response team.
Position Requirements
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of two years of experience in building maintenance trades (e.g., electrical, plumbing, mechanical, HVAC, carpentry, painting).
- Familiarity with the safe and proper use of hand and power tools.
- Ability to follow instructions and perform tasks independently as well as part of a team.
- Working knowledge of computers and ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, and the public.
- Valid North Carolina driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- National Career Readiness Certificate.
- Bilingual skills in English and Spanish.
