Position Overview:

The Terminal Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of terminal operations. This includes handling inbound and outbound shipments, processing customer orders in systems, collaborating with the routing department, managing drivers, and ensuring efficient and safe operations at the terminal. The role will also focus on driving customer compliance by ensuring that all shipments meet customer requirements and maintaining a high level of customer service. The ideal candidate will have a strong logistics background, excellent leadership abilities, and the capability to manage multiple moving parts at once while ensuring customer satisfaction and operational excellence.

Dock Responsibilities

  • Dock Operations Oversight: Lead and manage the daily operations on the terminal dock, ensuring that all shipments are processed, loaded, and unloaded efficiently and safely.
  • Inbound Shipments Management: Supervise the flow of inbound shipments, ensuring proper scanning, unloading, and accurate documentation in the system.
  • Parcel Handling and Sorting: Ensure parcels are sorted, scanned, and organized for delivery efficiently, with attention to proper packaging, labeling, and loading.
  • Facility Operations: Ensure the terminal is organized, clean, and operating in accordance with safety standards, minimizing delays and maximizing operational efficiency.

Driver Responsibilities

  • Driver Management: Supervise and manage route drivers, ensuring that they adhere to safety protocols, complete their deliveries on time, and provide excellent customer service.
  • Routing Assistance: Collaborate with the routing team to help create and optimize delivery routes, ensuring on-time deliveries while maintaining cost-efficiency.
  • Fleet Monitoring and Maintenance: Oversee the performance and condition of the fleet, ensuring that vehicles are properly maintained, serviced on schedule, and equipped for safe, efficient operation.

Systems, Service, & Staff Responsibilities

  • Order Processing & IT Systems: Accurately input and manage customer orders into company systems and customer portals. Utilize scanning devices and software tools to track shipments and maintain real-time life cycles of an order.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to ensure seamless communication and efficient operations across the terminal.
  • Customer Service Management: Serve as the point of contact for customer inquiries, using various IT systems and portals to track orders and provide accurate information.
  • Staff Training and Development: Design and implement training programs for new and existing employees, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge for their roles.
  • Employee Performance Management: Monitor and evaluate staff performance, providing feedback, coaching, and support to foster continuous improvement and high productivity.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a logistics or transportation management role, with a focus on dock operations, warehouse management, or IT systems integration.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage teams, especially dock workers and drivers, while ensuring high standards of safety and efficiency.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of logistics software, customer order management portals, and barcode scanning systems.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with customers, drivers, warehouse staff, and leadership.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly identify and resolve issues related to scanning systems, IT platforms, or operational challenges.
  • Attention to Detail: Detail-oriented with the ability to manage accurate records, ensure proper parcel handling, and track shipments through multiple IT systems.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to navigate the terminal dock and oversee physical operations. Some lifting and manual tasks may be required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 per year
