Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Fleet Operations Supervisor to support the daily management, readiness, and availability of our terminal fleet. This role will serve as the key connection point between Terminal Operations Management, Corporate Fleet Management, drivers, equipment lessors, and outside vendors. The ideal candidate will be highly organized and capable of building strong relationships with drivers and vendors.
This individual must understand commercial vehicle repairs, maintenance requirements, and operational impacts to effectively communicate with drivers regarding equipment concerns, gather accurate information, prioritize repairs, and ensure issues are addressed quickly. The successful candidate will be responsible for tracking repairs, equipment status, rentals, sub-units, and fleet-related items while maintaining accurate records and ensuring equipment is properly positioned to support terminal operations. The ideal candidate is a strong organizer who can manage multiple moving pieces, maintain accurate equipment records, and ensure commitments made by vendors and internal teams are followed through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
Fleet Operations
- Ensure the daily readiness, availability, and operational status of all straight trucks, tractors, and trailers operating through the terminal.
- Coordinate daily with the Corporate Fleet Manager regarding fleet status, preventive maintenance scheduling, equipment availability, and fleet changes
- Work closely with the AM and PM Terminal Managers to coordinate daily fleet operations and ensure effective communication regarding equipment status, maintenance activities, repairs, and operational priorities
- Monitor fleet utilization and equipment availability to maximize equipment uptime and support terminal operation
Equipment & Maintenance
- Perform post-trip equipment inspections and identify maintenance or safety concerns
- Identify repairs that require vendor support and coordinate service to minimize equipment downtime
- Work directly with equipment lessors & outside vendors to manage PM schedules, warranty work, damage repairs
- Install, troubleshoot, and replace fleet technology, including ELDs, trailer tracking devices, GPS units, and in-cab safety camera systems
- Ensure equipment remains DOT compliant and ready for service
Equipment Movement
- Operate company equipment as needed (Class A CDL required)
- Move tractors, straight trucks, and trailers throughout the terminal yard
- Transport equipment to and from leasing companies, dealerships, maintenance facilities, body shops, and outside vendors.
- Verify equipment condition before and after vendor service
Compliance & Communication
- Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, company safety standards, and fleet policies.
- Report equipment issues promptly and communicate repair status to terminal leadership and the Corporate Fleet Manager.
- Assist with accident documentation, damage reporting, and repair coordination.
- Maintain accurate fleet records, inspection reports, and maintenance logs.
Qualifications
- Valid Class A CDL required with strong knowledge of commercial vehicle operations and equipment.
- 5 years of transportation, fleet operations, maintenance coordination, or related experience preferred.
- Experience working directly with equipment lessors and repair vendors to coordinate repairs, preventive maintenance, and equipment availability.
- Strong ability to track and manage multiple equipment-related items
