Title: Academic Support Center Teacher
Position Summary: Wayland Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and nurturing Academic Support Center Teacher to join our team. This role is ideal for an educator who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about supporting the academic, social, and emotional growth of our high school learners.
Duties and Responsibilities (Not limited to):
- Create an environment of belonging in the Academic Support Center that is conducive to students’ growth as learners and community members;
- Embrace the diversity of the students and ensure that they all have equitable opportunities for learning and belonging;
- Provide appropriate learning experiences in applicable content/skill areas and SEL, guided by the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and district standards and requirements;
- Monitor students' academic progress and make quick use of interventions when progress is stalled;
- Keep current in the developments in the area of MTSS and related pedagogy;
- Hold high expectations for all students, provide appropriate support, and serve as a facilitator of student learning;
- Actively participate in the accomplishment of the goals and priorities of the PLC/school/district;
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with the Academic Support coordinator, school counselors, administrators, teachers, and/or parents/caretakers to provide and monitor appropriate supports for students;
- Participate in administrative tasks such as organizing schedules, updating work lists, and using student progress systems;
- Work with district and school leadership to combat systemic barriers that limit student, family, and staff members’ equitable access to opportunity;
- Any other relative duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

- MA DESE Licensure or eligibility 9-12 in applicable field
- Dual licensure in Special Education or ESL highly desirable
- SEI Endorsement
Professionalism: Strong communication skills and the personal characteristics necessary to serve as a positive role model for students.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in secondary education or a related content area required
- Master’s degree preferred
- Experience teaching in a diverse public high school preferred
- Experience working with students with academic struggles and/or disabilities/special abilities preferred
- Experience working with students who are English language learners preferred
- Experience with Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Classroom, etc.) and PowerSchool preferred, but will train the right candidate
Work Schedule and Compensation:
- This position is 0.5 (hours to be determined with supervisor)
- Compensation based on the WEA contract. [Example: Master’s through Master’s 30 range $95,754 - $126,651]
