What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher position at Kennedy Center?
Primary Responsibility: The goal of this position is to implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum for the Kennedy Center's highly professional and nurturing Head Starts Extended Day, Toddler, Pre School and School Age Child Care services and assure compliance with all licensing and accreditation sources. To be a member of the Children's Services team, and to stay current on regulations, standards and policies.
Representative Listing of Essential Job Duties;
- The Teacher will assist the teaching team with maintaining a safe, healthy learning environment.
- The Teacher will complete accurate documentation of children’s developmental progress
- Teacher will assist in the planning, creating and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum based on children’s strengths, needs and interests.
- The Teacher will support parents and provide resources and make referrals as needed.
- The Teacher will provide accurate documentation to the Children's Services management team.
All other duties as assigned by the Education Coordinator and Director of Children's Services

Required Competencies:
- The ability to implement knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate curriculum into daily practices.
- The ability to follow guidelines defined by Head Start Performance Standards, NAEYC Accreditation Standards and EEC regulations,
- The ability to communication effectively with supervisors, coworkers, community resources, and consumers of Kennedy Center's services. The ability to submit required documentation in a timely manner.
- Ability to use and manage the technology to collect, organize, store, and use data for ongoing operations such as data collection for client records, progress reputing, and reporting to funding sources.
- The ability to provide leadership and supervise a teaching team,
- The ability to use technology for routine electronic communication with supervisors, families, and coworkers.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- The ability to effectively manage many and at time competing demands.
- Sensitivity to issues of concern to all families;
- Understanding of poverty as a complex public policy, social and economic issue.
Educational Requirements:
l. Associate, Bachelor degree or Master degree in ECE or related field 2. Minimum of Teacher qualification from EEC
Experience Requirements:
l. Minimum of one (l) year of experience in a licensed early childhood education program.
Salary : $22 - $24
