We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Bus Aide at Wauseon Exempted Village School District. Responsibilities
- Assist the bus driver in the safe loading and unloading of students at designated stops.
- Monitor student behavior on the bus to ensure compliance with safety regulations and district policies.
- Provide support to students with special needs, including those requiring assistance with mobility or other accommodations.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff regarding transportation-related concerns.
- Conduct safety checks of the bus and report any maintenance issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Implement emergency procedures as needed to ensure the safety of all passengers.
- Maintain a positive and respectful atmosphere on the bus, promoting a culture of kindness and cooperation among students.
- Attend training sessions and meetings as required by the school district.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the transportation supervisor or school administration.
Requirements
- Must hold a State Board of Education Educational Aide Permit or have the ability to obtain one
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience working with children, particularly in an educational or transportation setting, is desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with students, parents, and staff.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations and respond appropriately to emergencies.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to school transportation.
- Must pass a background check and any required drug screenings.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to and from work.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including early mornings and late afternoons, as required by the school schedule.
Salary : $15 - $18
