Intervention Specialist - Autism Classroom

Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Intervention Specialist to join our team at Wauseon Primary School, focusing on our Autism Classroom. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with students with autism and other developmental disabilities, creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment. This full-time position will involve collaborating with teachers, parents, and support staff to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and promote the academic, social, and emotional growth of students. Job Details Starting date:  2026-2027 school year August 17, 2026 starting day 184 day contract 15 accrued Sick Days/year (maximum 250 days) 03 Personal Days Professional Development Educational Reimbursement Competitive Health Insurance options Board Paid Life Insurance Responsibilities - Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with autism, ensuring that goals are tailored to their unique needs. - Create and maintain a positive and structured classroom environment that fosters learning and social interaction among students. - Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and related service providers to support student learning and inclusion in the classroom. - Conduct assessments and evaluations to measure student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed. - Provide direct instruction in academic subjects, social skills, and life skills, using evidence-based practices and interventions. - Facilitate communication between students, parents, and staff to ensure a cohesive approach to each student's education and well-being. - Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge. - Implement behavior management strategies and interventions to support positive behavior and social skills development. - Maintain accurate records of student progress, behavior, and interventions, and prepare reports as required. - Stay informed about best practices in special education and autism interventions, attending workshops and training as necessary. Requirements - Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Psychology, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. - Valid teaching license or certification in Special Education, with a focus on autism spectrum disorders. - Experience working with students with autism and other developmental disabilities in an educational setting. - Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation, as well as knowledge of state and federal special education laws. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and staff. - Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support the growth and development of students with special needs. - Ability to adapt instructional methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of students. - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in maintaining student records and documentation. - Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with research and best practices in special education.

Salary : $43,488 - $94,369
